Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015
The Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015 was enacted to ensure that citizens of the state receive notified public services from the government and all subordinate public authorities in a transparent, efficient, and time-bound manner. The Act has been in effect since April 28, 2015, and its objective is to provide citizens with convenient and timely access to public services.
To monitor, coordinate, supervise, and recommend improvements in the delivery of these notified services, the Maharashtra State Commission for Right to Services has been constituted under this Act. The Commission comprises one Chief Commissioner and six Commissioners. The Commission’s headquarters is located at the New Administrative Building, opposite Mantralaya, Mumbai. In addition, offices of Commissioners are established in the headquarters of six regional divisions.
If eligible citizens do not receive the specified service within the prescribed time or if the service is denied without valid reasons, they may file a first and second appeal with senior authorities. If still unsatisfied, they can make a third appeal to the Commission. A penalty of up to Rs. 5,000/- per case can be imposed on the responsible officer for negligence.

Citizens can apply for these services online through the “Aaple Sarkar” portal. On this portal, users can apply for various services, check the status of their applications, and download certificates.
